Yes. Your devices talk to each other directly over your own network, so it costs us nothing to run — there is no server in the middle to pay for. We charge for cloud storage beyond the free 5 GB because storage is the part that costs money.

Nothing on your own devices — they are ordinary files in ordinary folders, and they stay exactly where they are. Your plan runs to the end of the period you paid for, then you are on the free plan and its 5 GB. If your cloud holds more than that, the next answer explains what happens.

Filling your space only stops new uploads to the cloud until you free some or move up a plan; nothing is deleted to make room, and syncing between your own devices carries on. You can only end up over the limit if it shrinks under files already stored, for example when a paid plan ends. Then nothing changes for 30 days, and we email you twice. If you are still over after that, the most recently added cloud files move to your cloud trash until you are back under. You can restore them from there for as long as your trash keeps files (30 days unless you change it). Files on your own devices are never touched.

No. Files are encrypted on your device before they are uploaded, and the keys never leave it. We can see how much space you use and when — not what any of it is.
