ShieldSync
Features

Everything it does. Nothing it reads.

What ShieldSync does with your files, and how it does it. One app for Windows, macOS and Linux.

Works without internet Encrypted before it leaves Only changes move
01 — Nearby

Straight from one computer to the next.

Why send a file to a server in another country just to bring it back to the computer across the room? ShieldSync notices when your devices share a network and moves files directly between them, at the speed of your own network.

  • Works with the internet down
  • No account needed between your own devices
  • Only the changed pieces of a file move
The Share window's Pair tab: Alex's Mac is found on the same Wi-Fi, online and ready to share.
02 — Cloud

A vault we can't open.

When your computers are far apart, ShieldSync goes through your cloud instead. Every file is encrypted on your device with AES-256 before it uploads, and its name is hidden too. The keys are made on your device and never sent to us, so we could not read your files if we wanted to.

  • 5 GB free, more on a plan
  • Encrypted connections for every transfer
  • A computer that was off catches up when it is back
The Storage screen: 122.66 MB of 750 GB used on the Pro plan, split into photos, documents and ShieldSync's own data, with the note that items are encrypted on this device before they leave it.
03 — Online-only

Every file in sight, none filling your disk.

Files kept in your cloud still show in File Explorer and Finder, with their real names and sizes. Open one and it downloads on the spot. Mark a folder to keep it on this computer for good.

  • Built into File Explorer and Finder
  • Free up space on any folder
  • On Personal and Pro
04 — History

Wind any file back.

When a newer copy of a file arrives from another of your computers, or from someone you share with, ShieldSync keeps the one it replaced. Open the file’s history to bring it back. And anything you delete waits in Deleted before it goes, so a slip of the hand is not the end of it.

  • 30 days of history on Personal, a year on Pro
  • Deleted files kept 30 days on Free
  • Restore with one click
And the rest

The small things you notice later.

Every one of these is in the app today.

Workspaces

Keep work, family and projects in separate folders, each with its own sharing and cloud settings.

Sync direction

Let a folder send only, receive only, or both, per folder.

A pause per device

Stop syncing one folder with one device without touching the rest.

Ignore patterns

Leave build output, caches and anything else you name out of a folder’s sync.

Activity

See who changed what, and when, on every item you share.

Conflict copies

Two people edit the same file at once? Both versions are kept, side by side, nothing overwritten.

Stop any transfer

Started a 5 GB upload by mistake? Stop it from the transfers list; nothing is lost.

Starts with your computer

ShieldSync runs quietly in the tray and keeps folders current in the background.

Your password stays put

Sign-in sends a verifier made from your password, never the password itself.

Every transfer in one list, each with a way to stop it.
The transfers list: a 1 GB video uploading to the cloud, 71 percent done, with a Cancel button.
Deleted items wait here, and you choose how long.
The Deleted page: a deleted folder waits there, with how long it is kept on this computer and in the cloud.
Works with

The tools you already use.

Your files stay in ordinary folders, so every app you have already works with ShieldSync. Nothing to change about how you work.

Windows

File Explorer

Online-only files appear in Explorer with their real names, and right-clicking an item offers ShieldSync’s actions.

macOS

Finder

Each workspace appears as a location in Finder, with files that download when you open them.

Linux

Your file manager

Workspaces are ordinary folders that every Linux file manager and app can use.

Every app

Anything that saves files

Editors, design tools, IDEs and games: if it saves to a folder, ShieldSync keeps that folder in sync.

Planned

S3-compatible access

Reach your encrypted cloud from scripts and tools that speak S3.

Planned

Headless servers

Run ShieldSync on a NAS or a home server without a desktop.

File Explorer shows which files are only in your cloud.
File Explorer on Windows: the photos in a ShieldSync folder, each with a cloud icon for online-only.
On a Mac, each workspace is a location in Finder.
Finder on a Mac: ShieldSync workspaces listed under Locations, showing photos that are not downloaded yet.
On Linux, a workspace is an ordinary folder in your file manager.
Files on Ubuntu Linux: the Summer holiday 2026 folder of the Family workspace, with its seven photos as thumbnails.
The right-click menu in File Explorer: ShieldSync, with Open in ShieldSync and Share with ShieldSync, above Always keep on this device.
On Windows, right-click any item for ShieldSync's actions.

Try it on two computers.
It takes a minute.
